Jasper Arts to honor former director, Kit Miracle

Jasper Arts will present ‘In Memory of Kit Miracle’, an exhibition honoring the great artist, beloved family member and friend, Kit G. Miracle, for the months of January and February 2026 at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center.
Kit was the former Director of Jasper Community Arts and, before that, was employed by Ford Motor Company in Michigan. She graduated from Earlham College and completed graduate work at Oakland University (Rochester, Michigan) and the Paint Creek Center for the Arts.
Kit was a contemporary impressionist. Her work is characterized by capturing the scenes’ feelings with thick brushstrokes, colors placed side by side rather than mixed on the palette, commonplace subject matter, and asymmetrical compositions. Her bold style aimed to draw viewers into the artistic process.

Kit loved to paint her travels, especially when she took advantage of Plein Air opportunities.
“Most people think that I’m a painter, but I’m much more than that,” she once said. “I’m a storyteller. I don’t use words to tell my stories. My tools are paint and canvas and paper. I use them to convey my stories with a depth that words cannot reach.”
A professional artist for more than 35 years, Kit has had numerous solo and group exhibits, including at the Salmagundi Club in New York, the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the Rocky Mountain Watercolor Media exhibit. Her work has also won many awards and is sold worldwide.
She was the Jasper Arts Visual Arts Coordinator for seven years before being named director in 2007. She retired in 2017.
Join us for The First Thursday Opening Reception on Thursday, January 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Free event and open to the public.
