Jasper advances to semifinals in Babe Ruth World Series

The Jasper Babe Ruth 14 Year Old All Stars advanced to the quarter final round of the Babe Ruth World Series with a 9-6 win over host Moses Lake, Washington on Wednesday night.
Moses Lake jumped out to a 1–0 lead in top of the first, but Jasper answered with three in the bottom of the inning when Evan Aders belted a leadoff home run, Reece Kleinhelter and Andrew Schmitt walked, and Adam Hedinger ripped a bases-clearing, 2 RBI double.
Jasper scored four more runs in the second when Aders tripled, Kleinhelter was hit by a pitch, Tanner Egbert singled, and Jared Sermersheim smacked a 2-run single to right field.
Jasper scored again in the third and fifth innings to go up 9-4 after five innings. Moses Lake didn’t give up, scored two in the top of the 7th, and left bases loaded to end the game.
Statistically, Moses Lake out hit Jasper 9-8 and did not commit an error. Jasper committed 4 errors.
Jared Sermersheim pitched close to a complete game for Jasper, but was relieved by Ethan Schroeder in the 7th. Schroeder pitched to two batters and got one out. Tanner Egbert came in to close and struck out two to end the game.
Jasper now advances to the single elimination quarter final round as the number 3 seed from the National Division, and will play Oregon, the number 2 seed from the American Division, Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.
The winner of the Jasper/Oregon game advances to the final 4 on Friday.
