Jasper adds new bloodhound team

When the City of Jasper hired Clint Stewart in February they also gained his trained bloodhound, Makya.

The pair came as a team from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office where Clint had served for nearly 13 years before deciding to move to Dubois County last year. There he served as a patrol deputy, detective, and canine handler.

Makya is a black and tan bloodhound who will turn four in February. She was originally donated to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office in October of 2018 by Find M’ Friends, Inc. of Crystal River, Florida. She was issued to Clint and the pair completed extensive training at the York County South Carolina Bloodhound Seminars in 2018 and became certified in mantrailing by the NAPWDA in 2019.

Makya is trained in search and rescue and mantrailing for the purpose of locating missing people.

She was gifted to Clint when he moved to Dubois County and was recently approved to join the Jasper Police Department.
