Jasper 8th grader wins Tri-State Tour bowling championship

Reid Wendholt, an 8th grader at Jasper Middle School and a youth bowler at Eastown Recreation, claimed victory at the Tri-State Tour Tournament of Champions this past weekend.

The Tri-State Tour, a competitive event that rotates monthly across bowling centers in the tri-state area, is an adult tournament allowing youth bowlers to participate and compete for scholarship funds instead of cash prizes.

This is his second win in the Tri-State Tour in as many months. He also took the top prize in November while competing in Ross Cottom Lanes in Muddy, Illinois. This time, though, he won the tournament of champions.

To qualify for the championship, Reid bowled in a certain number of tournaments and made the top 50 in the finals standings.

Reid kept an average of 225 scratches on Sunday over eight games and ended up winning the championship tournament.

Along with his win, the middle schooler also celebrated his 14th birthday with cake and ice cream afterward.
