Janet Sullivan, 80, Jasper

Janet Sullivan, 80, of Jasper, formerly of New Albany, passed away at 2:37 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Janet was born on September 24, 1935 in Seymour to S. Frank and Dorothy (Pettit) Mattox. She married Thomas M. Sullivan in 1978. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2001.

She worked at Churchill Downs for several years. She was a member of the Tri Kappa Sorority.

Janet enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, decorating, art, music, and horse racing. She was an avid IU basketball fan and enjoyed her granddogs, Gracie, Coco, and Pippa.

She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Nancy Otte of Jasper and Julie Wedean and husband David of Sandy Springs, Geo.; one son, John “Chip” Otte and wife Rebecca of Brownsburg; stepchildren, Patricia Helton of Marysville, Ind., Dr. Peggy Hite of Sarasota, Fla., Mary Sullivan of California and Robert Sullivan and wife Mary of New Albany; one brother, Richard Mattox and wife Jane of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Ashton and Ethan Otte; eight stepgrandchildren; one nephew, Benjamin Mattox.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, was a nephew S. Frank Mattox II, stepson Thomas Sullivan Jr., and stepson-in-law James Helton.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held Saturday (February 6, 2016) at 12:00 p.m. at Sam’s at Plantation Montrose, 318 W Lewis & Clark Parkway, Clarksville, IN. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m.
