Janelia E. “Janie” Jahn, 90, of St. Anthony, Indiana, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Thursday (February 19, 2015) in Memorial Hospital Health Care Campus in Jasper.

Janelia was born on August 19, 1924 in Rockport, Indiana to Ben and Anna (Miller) Kappner. She married Linus H. Jahn on August 9, 1952 St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, Indiana. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2003.

She was a homemaker and a cook at St. Anthony Community Center for many years. She was member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the St. Anthony Christian Mothers, and the St. Anthony Community Center. She enjoyed doing puzzles, cooking, caring for her dogs, and spending time with her family. She was also an Indiana University basketball fan.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen Schueler, and her husband Gary of St. Anthony; two sons, Steve Jahn, and his wife Jayne of Jasper and Mark Jahn, and his wife Theresa of Huntingburg; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are two sisters, Leona Steffe and Marie Strobel, and two brothers, her twin, Joe, and Raymond Kappner.

Funeral services for Janelia E. “Janie” Jahn will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana, with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church. The St. Anthony Christian Mothers will have a prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
