Jane Coy Witte, 89, Jasper
Jane Witte, 89, of Jasper, went to Heaven to be with her Savior, Jesus, on November 22, 2024, at Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.

She was born on September 29, 1935, in Seymour, Indiana to Don and Zelma (Robards) Coy.
Jane married Bud Witte on September 2, 1956, in Seymour at the first Methodist Church.
She was a 1957 graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Jane later earned a Master’s Degree from Indiana University. She taught for many years a Tenth Street Elementary School. She loved her students and said they were all “her kids”.
Jane lived in Cincinnati, Ohio for 12 years. While there she was a member of Junior Women’s Club and served as president. She volunteered at Shriners Burns Hospital. She also helped promote a program for children called The Riddle of the Friendly Stranger.
In 1970 she moved to Jasper and was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority. In the associate chapter of Tri Kappa Jane was devoted to running the Bridge-A-Rama Charity Project for many years. She volunteered at Dubois County American Heart Association and served as president. Jane was a CASA volunteer, Life Master Duplicate Bridge player, and a member of Shiloh Church. She was involved in Walk to Emmaus and Young Life.
Jane lived an active and full life. She enjoyed golf, snow skiing, bridge, mahjong, knitting, reading, cooking (especially baking Christmas cookies), dogs, and sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was passionate about spending time at her family cottage on the lake at Brownstown. When she was not able to snow ski any longer, she and Bud began going to Sanibel Island, Fla., during the winter. She made many new friends there.
Surviving is her devoted husband of 68 years, Bud Witte; two children, Mirth (Gary Hahn) and Cork (Erin) Witte; four grandchildren, Layn (Cale) Knies, Sam Hahn, Chris Hahn, and Joe Witte; three great-grandchildren, Evren, Maren, and Sagen Knies.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11:00 at Shiloh Church, Jasper, Indiana.
A time to visit with the family will be held from 10:00 until the time of the service on Thursday at Shiloh Church.
Memorial donations may be made to Shiloh Church, a favorite charity, or the Bud and Jane Witte Endowment at the Community Foundation.
