James “Roy” Ranger, 94, of Dale, passed away at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg.

He was born April 27, 1921, in Chrisney, Indiana, to Ora and Georgia (Bender) Ranger.

He graduated from Dale High School in 1939 and married Anna Gunselman on November 30, 1944.

Roy was involved in the food industry his entire life; employed in farming, the wholesale grocery business for thirteen years, and retiring from Holland Dairy after 30 ½ years. He was a past president of the Dale Town Board on which he served for eight years; a member of the Dale Planning & Zoning Board for thirteen years; and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dale.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Anna C. Ranger, who passed away October 12, 2009; his parents; stepmother, Irene “Margie” Ranger; two brothers, Marion Ranger and Lloyd Ranger; and sister, June Hoover.

He is survived by four sons and three daughter-in-laws, James L. “Jim” (Cheryl) Ranger of Dale, John (Donna) Ranger of Dale, Steve Ranger of Jasper and Bob (Gloria) Ranger of San Diego, Cali.; three daughters and two son-in-laws, Lois (John) Gogel of Mariah Hill, Lynn (Jerry) Bueltel of Holland and Susan Ranger of Jasper; one brother, Leland Ranger of Valparaiso; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for James Roy Ranger will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale with burial to follow at the Dale Cemetery.  Fr. John Brosmer will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., EDT on Monday. Memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale or to a favorite charity.
