James R. “Jim” Berg, 91, Jasper
James R. “Jim” Berg, 91, of Jasper, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Cathedral Health Care in Jasper.

He was a United States Army veteran, who served in Japan during World War II. Jim was the office manager at Breidenbaugh’s in Jasper for 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Jasper K of C, American Legion Post #147, and V.F.W. Post #673.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening, yard work, grilling, music, bowling and spending time with family.
He is survived are three daughters, Shelley Otto and Jeryl Luegers of Jasper, Lisa (John) Siebert of Jasper and Melanie Berg and Maureen McCune of Greenwood; two sons, Michael Berg of Chicago and Marty Berg and Joey Mateo of San Francisco, Cali.; four grandchildren, Leslie Otto of Jasper, Nick Otto and fiancé, Emily Mendel of Lexington, Ky., Nathan (Liz) Berg, Chicago and Theresa (Brian) Rekruciak of Chicago; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Jack Berg; one sister, Rosemarie Gramelspacher of Jasper; one brother, John L. (Liz) Berg of Columbia, S.C.
Preceding him in death besides his wife, are one son, Mark Berg, one brother, Bill Berg, and one sister, Marjorie Curtin.
A Mass of Christian Burial James R. “Jim” Berg will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military grave site rights.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
