James L. “Jim” Songer, 74

James L. “Jim” Songer, age 74, of Huntingburg, passed away at 10:50 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg.
He was born September 30, 1937 in Duff, Indiana to Hugo E. and Clarissa A. (Bretz) Songer. Mr. Songer retired from Kimball Office Furniture’s Artec Division. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ; he enjoyed watching I.U. Basketball and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball on the television, playing the guitar and listening to country music. He served in the United States Army from 1960-62. He was preceded in death by: one son, Kurt Songer; three sisters- Katherine Astrike, Janice Garrett and infant Betty Jean Songer; and one grandchild.

Funeral services for James L. “Jim” Songer will be held at 11:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Mayo Cemetery near Duff. The Rev. Tom Wade will officiate the services. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to: VistaCare Hospice.
