James L. Hartwick, 60, of Celestine

James L. Hartwick, 60, of Celestine, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at home.

Jim was born in Jasper on January 17, 1957, to Alfred and Dolores (Haefling) Hartwick. He married Debbie Eckert on August 28, 1982, in St. Celestine Catholic Church.

He worked for Versteel in Jasper and previously worked for Design Institute of America and in construction.

He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Campus, the North American Hunting Club, and the North American Fishing Club.

He enjoyed hunting, trapping, cutting wood, mushroom and ginseng hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie Hartwick, Celestine, two daughters, Jami Englert (Matt), Dubois, Mary Buechlein (Ben), Dubois, one son, Jesse Hartwick (Harley Brinkman), three grandchildren, Mason and Jessa Englert, and Wesson Buechlein, and mother, Dolores Hartwick-Brosmer.

Preceding him in death were his father Alfred Hartwick, and his step-father Norman Brosmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial for James L. Hartwick will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish, the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center, or to a favorite charity.
