James L. Fleck, 77, of Maltersville, passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at home.

Jim was born in Jasper, Indiana, on April 6, 1941, to Andrew and Martha (Giesler) Fleck. He married Viola M. Schultheis on April 19, 1969, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

He served in the Indiana Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post #493 in St. Anthony.

Jim was a lifelong farmer in the Maltersville area.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the St. Anthony Community Center.

He enjoyed farming, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are his wife Viola Fleck of Maltersville; one daughter, Theresa Luebbehusen (Bill) of Ferdinand; two sons, Stan Fleck (Mara) of Maltersville and Steve Fleck (Chris) of St. Anthony; nine grandchildren, Logan, Leighton, Landon, and Luke Fleck, Dustin, Aubrey, and Adalyn Luebbehusen, and Madison and Carson Fleck; three sisters, Ruth Goeppner of Ireland, Pat Hasenour (Gerald) of Celestine and Aline Laake (Dave) of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother Jerome Fleck of St. Anthony.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Ralph Fleck.

A Mass of Christian Burial for James L. Fleck will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.  The St. Anthony American Legion Post #493 will conduct military graveside rites.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Holy Family Parish will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m.
