James “Jim” W. Popp, 74, of Jasper, passed away at 6:03 p.m., on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville.

James “Jim” W. Popp

Jim was born in Portersville, Indiana, on September 29, 1944, to Hilbert and Eldena (Harder) Popp. He married Linda L. Vogel October 3, 1964, in Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana.

Jim was a 1962 graduate of Ireland High School. He worked at Kimball for many years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana, where he was a past member of the church council. He was also a member of Jasper Outdoor REC, Haysville Ruritan, and he was a past Haysville Volunteer Fire Department Director. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Popp of Jasper; two sons, J.D. Popp of Jasper and Todd (Christine) Popp of Jasper; two grandchildren, Aleah and Katie Popp; one brother, Robert (Myrna) Popp of Jasper; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Popp of Jasper.

Preceding him in death are one sister, Louanna Nuhring and one brother, Fred Popp.

A funeral service for James “Jim” W. Popp will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May, 3, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Pastor Tim Holt will officiate.
