James “Jim” Loveless, 76, Petersburg

James “Jim” Loveless, 76, of Petersburg, passed away September 5, 2025, in Petersburg.

He was born to Emil and Francis (Barrett) Loveless on October 7, 1948, in Washington, Ind.

Jim spent his life as a teacher at Petersburg Elementary School. He loved the time he spent there and his teacher family at the school.

He was a faithful member of the Rumbletown Free Methodist Church, a member of Tri Cap, and enjoyed serving on the Election Board.

He loved history and reading, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and especially enjoyed reading to them.

Jim is survived by his children, Julie (Clint) Peer and Jeff (Tonya) Loveless; his brother, Michael Loveless; and his grandchildren, Keegan Loveless, Kinzee Loveless, Molly Peer, Brileigh Peer, Jeremy (Danessa)Peer and Madison Peer.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Loveless and his parents.

A Memorial service will be held for Jim at 12 p.m. EST on Sunday, October 5, at the Rumbletown Free Methodist Church in Petersburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations please be made to Walnut Hills Cemetery in honor of Jim. Those may be mailed to PO Box 217, Petersburg, IN 47567.
