James F. Lueken, 83, Ferdinand

James F. Lueken, 83, of Ferdinand, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.
He was born August 30, 1933, in Ferdinand to Joseph F. and Olivia P. (Nord) Lueken. He married Bernadette “Daisy” Sitzman on May 6, 1954, in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2016.
James was a co-owner of the former Lueken Lumber Company, and owner of Custom Decks & Specialty. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand, its St. Joseph Sodality and a former member of the church finance Committee. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard, Jasper # 1949, The Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. He was a former member of the Ferdinand Jaycees, and a past president, Ferdinand Investment Corporation, and Ferdinand Community Center.
Surviving are one son, Jonathan Lueken of Ferdinand and one daughter, Kristine (Brian) Braunecker of Ferdinand; Three grandsons. Benjamin and Noah Braunecker and Zachary Lueken; two sisters, Barbara (Jim) Schaefer of Wadesville and Mary Jo (Dennis) Tretter of Fort Wayne; two sisters-in-law, Nita Lueken of Ferdinand and Loraine Lueken of Iowa; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for James Lueken will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, in Christ the King, St. Ferdinand Parish, with military graveside rites to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ferdinand Church.
