James Edward Ruxer, 64, Indianapolis
James Edward Ruxer, affectionately known as Jim, was born on April 8, 1961, in Jasper, Indiana.

He departed this life on February 9, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, persistence, and love.
Jim earned his Bachelor’s in Accounting at Indiana State University in 1979, where he met his beloved wife, Lisa (Coleman) Ruxer. He achieved great distinction in his professional career, becoming a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Indiana CPA Society. Additionally, he held the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation and served as a partner at the esteemed public accounting firm Koehler, Ruxer, Walker & Co., LLC for over thirty remarkable years. His commitment to his work was evident as he passionately served his clients, helping them navigate financial challenges and building a successful business alongside his partner, Jim Walker, and longtime employees.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was a devoted family man who cherished the connections he made with his loved ones. He was a supportive father, devoted to attending his children’s events and organizing family trips to Destin, Hawaii, National Parks, the Caribbean and more, creating lasting memories. Jim was proud to travel across the country for Jared’s baseball and Addie’s volleyball games, always encouraging their pursuits with enthusiasm. A passionate racing fan, he attended nearly every Indy 500, the 24 Hours of Daytona, 24 Hours of Le Mans, and many more. Jim enjoyed playing tennis at the Indianapolis Racquet Club, where he was a member for over 35 years and played on many USTA teams, including appearances at national tournaments alongside longtime coach Prem Gupta.
In his personal characteristics, Jim demonstrated resilience and a persistent spirit throughout his life, especially during his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He faced this formidable challenge with unwavering determination, undergoing many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, and pursuing a clinical trial, always maintaining hope and a fighting spirit.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Ruxer; his children, Addie Holzer (Brian Holzer) and Jared Ruxer (Samantha Ruxer); and his siblings, Jay Ruxer (Suzanne Ruxer), Jill Ruxer, and Jeff Ruxer (Amy Ruxer).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Ruxer and Rosemarye Ruxer.
Jim’s memory will be cherished by his family and friends, who will remember him for his good sense of humor, hardworking demeanor, and the deep love he exhibited towards those around him. As we celebrate his life, we honor a man whose legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
