James E. “Jim” Blount

James E. “Jim” Blount, age 81, of Selvin, Indiana, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at his residence.

He was born September 12, 1931 in Oakland City, Indiana to James Ralph and Lorene (Preston) Blount. Jim married Delores “Dee” J. Russell on August 24, 1957.

He farmed and worked at the Whirlpool Corporation, volunteered for the Pigeon Twp. fire department where he was a former fire chief. He was a member of the Holland American Legion and a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #177 earning the Woodbadge Award.

He served as a gunner in the United States Navy aboard the USS Oberon in the Korean War.

Jim was preceded in death by: his wife, Delores “Dee” J. Blount, who died November 16, 2012.

Two grandchildren, Eric Blount and Aaron (Jessica) Blount, and one great grandchild, Avery Blount.

Funeral services for James E. “Jim” Blount will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Officiating the service will be Pastor Scott Westerman. Burial will take place at Cup Creek Cemetery in Pike County, Indiana. The Holland American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00–8:00 p.m. on Monday.
