Jack M. Goodman, 94, Celestine
Jack M. Goodman, 94, of Celestine, passed away surrounded by family at 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Serenity Springs at Northwood in Jasper.

Jack was born in Dubois on January 7, 1932, to Theodore and Leona (Zehr) Goodman.
He married Shirley Rose Hoffman on November 22, 1958. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1964.
He then married Frances (Giesler) Heeke on June 5, 1982, and she preceded him in death on September 18, 2022.
He was a graduate of Dubois High School and a United States Army veteran.
He had been a meat cutter/butcher at the Dubois IGA, was a shoe repairman and had his own shop, worked in the wood factory in Celestine and then in Jasper, was a night watchman at Kimball International, and then worked in maintenance at Meadowood Apartments.
He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana, where he received the Brute Award for his service within the parish. He was also a member of the Celestine Community Club.
He and his wife, Frances, were well known for making over 100,000 rosaries for the Shepherds of Christ Mission and for many other churches and individuals of the surrounding communities.
He enjoyed gardening, tinkering and mechanic work, fishing, turtle hunting, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary (Deacon Mike) Seibert of Dubois; four step-daughters, Ann (Dean) Mehringer of Dubois, Julie (Duane) Rasche of Dubois, Denise Heeke of Jasper, and Lisa Winchell of Jasper; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Inez (Dallas) Knies of Jasper and Carol (Neil) Gehlhausen of St. Anthony; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death, besides his two wives, are two sisters, Nancy Eichmiller and Pauline “Sis” Sermersheim, and two brothers, Gene and Ernie Goodman.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jack M. Goodman will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Mass time at the church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish or to the wishes of the family.
