IRS scammers calling residents again

Residents of Dubois County are receiving phone scam calls again.

This time, the callers are identifying themselves as U.S. Department of the Treasury and are stating the magistrate is going to arrest the resident if they do not return the phone call.  This is not the case.

The U.S. Department of Treasury is not going to contact you by phone. When there is a legitimate issue, there is always an attempted to contact you by mail. This is the same scam that was going around just a month or so ago where the callers then identified themselves as IRS agents.

As always, do not release any personal information to the caller and do not call them back.
