Irma Caroline Voegerl, 86, of Ferdinand, passed away, Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Brookside Village in Jasper.
Irma was born April 30, 1931, in Ferdinand to Robert J. and Louise (Hollinden) Wendholt. She married Clarence Voegerl on June 25, 1955, in St. Ferdinand Church. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2011.
Irma worked at General Electric for 14 years, Weyer Egg for three years and Marian Heights Academy for 24 years.
She was a member of St. Ferdinand Church and its St. Annes’ Sodality and Daughters of Isabella. Irma was a member of the Ferdinand American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed canning, quilting, gardening and reading. Irma loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
Irma is survived by two sons, Thomas (Sherri) Voegerl of Huntingburg and Kevin (Jenifer) Voegerl of Ferdinand; one brother, Edward (Loraine) Wendholt of Jasper; five grandchildren, Heath, Hannah, Heather, and Sierra Voegerl and Chelsea Hemmerlein; four step-grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob, Melissa and Megan Luker; one great-grandchild, Kyrie.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; one brother, Henry C. Wendholt; three sisters, Agnes C. Schmidt, Marion L. Vaal and Alene A. Wendholt; and one grandson, Shane Michael Voegerl.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Ferdinand Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and on Thursday from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Dubois County Humane Society or the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand.
