Irene M. Dippel, 100, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Irene was born on June 24, 1914 in Elberfeld, Indiana to Alois and Ann Elizabeth (Welte) Feller. She married Victor P. Dippel on September 28, 1940 in Evansville, IN. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1985.

Irene and her late husband Victor were co-owners of the Dippels’ Food Center with their son Jack.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, the St. Ann’s Society and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella, and was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital in Jasper for many years.

She was a member of the Jasper Women’s Bowling Association for 60 years and was an avid golfer until the age of 93. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed traveling and gardening.

She is survived by her son, Jack Dippel and his wife Mary Jo, of Newburgh; twins; daughter, Marlene Paone of Aurora, Col. and son, Mike Dippel and his wife, Eleanor, of Arvada, Col.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were two sisters; Louise “Tiny” Feller and Pat Simms, and four brothers; Edwin, Lawrence, Lee, and Jerry Feller, also a brother and sister who died in infancy.

Funeral services for Irene Dippel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ireland, Indiana.

Friends may call from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, IN. The St. Ann’s Society and the Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 9:00 a.m. at the church.
