Irene F. Petry, 79

Irene F. Petry , age 79, of St. Anthony, passed away at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at home.

She was born on April 25, 1934 in English, IN to Ollie and Ruth (Young) Patton. She married Edward J. Petry on February 28, 1953 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1972.

Irene was a homemaker and worked for Scenic Hill’s Retirement Community at Ferdinand, Professional Care Retirement Community in Dale, and for the Holiday Inn in Jasper.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 493 Auxiliary.

She enjoyed hunting for four leaf clovers, ginseng, yellowroot, and mushrooms. She also enjoyed gardening, and visiting with the grandkids.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Brown and her husband John, of Otwell and Linda Martindale of Jasper; five sons, Michael Petry and his wife Daria, of St. Anthony, Edward Petry and his wife Darlinda, of Winslow, David Petry and his wife Tonya “Lynn”, of Birdseye, Bill Petry, of St. Anthony, and Keith Petry and wife Tammy, of Evansville; 29 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Grimes and Mary Faye Bath, both of English; one brother, John Patton and his wife Lois, of Huntingburg.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, is one son, Donald Petry, a great-granddaughter, Anna Pauckner, two sisters, Barbara Patton and Bernice Mills, two brothers, Ollie Patton Jr, and Jess Patton.

Funeral services for Irene Petry will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, IN, with burial to follow in St. Anthony Church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel and one hour before services on Monday at the church.
