Irene C. Werne, 90

Irene C. Werne, 90, of Ferdinand, died, Thursday, October 23, 2014 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Irene was born June 6, 1924 in Dubois to John and Elizabeth (Schepers) Terwiske.

She married Gilbert P. Werne on May 23, 1944 in St. Mary Church in Ireland. Gilbert passed away on June 24, 2010.

Irene was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish and St Anne’s Sodality. Irene enjoyed reading and scrapbooking

Irene is survived by one son, Larry Werne and wife Linda, of Ferdinand; two daughters, Darla Schipp and husband Tom, of Ferdinand and Sharon Persohn and husband Kenneth, of Schnellville; one brother, Cletus Terwiske of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Monica Thacker and husband Bob, of Huntingburg and Mary Merkley of Jasper; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; one son, Gary Werne; one grandson, Todd Werne; four brothers, Jim, Bob, Tony and Maurice Terwiske.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday 7:00-9:30 a.m. at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. Ferdinand Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
