Ireland Lions Club donates special Liberty Tree to Ireland Elementary

A few weeks ago, members of the Ireland Lions Club and the Sons of Liberty dedicated a special Washington Hawthorne tree at Ireland Elementary. The tree was planted to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the country

Ireland Lions Club members Jerry Himsel, Dave Rudolph, Ron Mendel, and Junie Himsel attended the dedication of the Washington Hawthorne that the club donated to Ireland Elementary.
SAR member Thomas Leland gave the history of the Sons of Liberty and the original Liberty Tree.
Fifth grade students gave a presentation during the tree dedication. Members of the Sons of the American Revolution served as an honor guard.
Ireland Elementary Principal Shannon Bauer said the tree dedication helped students better understand the connection between the roots of our country’s beginnings and its 250th anniversary, while also giving them a personal connection to the events.
Jerry Himsel placed the plaque in the ground before having photos taken.
