Iona E. Schnarr, 82

Iona E. Schnarr, age 82, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 6:01 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Iona was born on December 23, 1931 to David and Emily (Neukam) Neukam. She married LeRoy Schnarr on April 20, 1950 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville.

Iona was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township.

She was an avid Indiana University basketball fan, a member of WELCA and she previously sang in the church choir.

Iona is survived by her husband, LeRoy Schnarr of Jasper; one daughter-in-law, Joann Schnarr of Jasper; two grandsons, Doug Schnarr, and his wife Kiley, of Clayton, Ind. and Chad Schnarr, and his wife Janet, of Hillsborough, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is one son, Michael D. Schnarr and one brother, Delcas G. Neukam.

Funeral services for Iona E. Schnarr will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Otwell. Pastor Timothy Kraemer will officiate.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
