Indiana State Police investigating recent ATM thefts

State police are investigating a recent ATM theft in Dale that matches one that occurred last September in St. Meinrad.

According to police, the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an ATM stolen from the Dale area on May 8, 2024, at approximately 3:02 a.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford F-350 stolen from Dubois County had been used in the crime. The suspects hooked heavy tow chains to the ATM and pulled it off the pedestal. The suspects broke into the ATM and emptied the cash. The suspects then fled in a dark-colored SUV.

Detectives said the same method was used in this ATM theft in Saint Meinrad in September 2023.

This case is still under investigation.
