Indiana State Police collected 500 lbs of prescription drugs locally

Jasper – Last Saturday the Indiana State Police collected over 500 pounds of prescription medications during the fifth annual “Prescription Drug Take Back” day.

Collection sites were set up nationwide for expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs to be turned in for destruction.  This program is intended for liquid and pill medications.

The Indiana State Police set up collections sites at every post (except the Toll Road.)  Here at the Jasper Post with the help of Tri-Cap RSVP, the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, and the Birdseye and Huntingburg Fire Departments, 507 pounds of medications were collected locally between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.
