Independent Candidate Steffen facing trial tomorrow

Independent candidate “Mack” (Jeffrey Mack) Steffen will be in court tomorrow facing charges for an altercation over the purchase of a moped and TV.

Steffen is charged with four felony counts of intimidation and one count of felony theft stemming from an arrest on March 24, 2010.

Jury selection was conducted today and the trial starts tomorrow at 8 a.m. If Steffen is found guilty on any of the felony charges he will have to withdraw from the Jasper Mayoral race due to the felony conviction.

A press release from Steffen states, “As a citizen of this great country, I have a right to protect myself from impending physical harm.  I know the wrong person is being prosecuted and I believe the four teens that accosted me are the ones guilty of a crime.”
