Imogene M. Knies, 83

Imogene M. Knies, 83, of Celestine passed away at 1:48 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Timbers of Jasper.

Imogene was born on May 8, 1932 in St. Anthony to Charles and Florence (Voges)Schnell. She married Elmer Knies on October 11, 1951 at St. Celestine Church. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2012.

Imogene worked as the bookkeeper for Ben Franklin in Jasper for 40 plus years. She was a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church and their St. Ann’s Society, and the Celestine Community Club. She enjoyed playing cards, needlework ,watching the St . Louis Cardinals and Indiana Pacers, and spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Knies of Celestine and Sherry Bieker and her husband Mark of Celestine; one son, Kent Knies and his wife Brenda of Celestine; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; one sister, Doris Meyer of Celestine.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were two sons, Scott J. Knies and Michael L. Knies.

Funeral Services for Imogene M. Knies will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana, with burial to follow in St. Celestine Cemetery.

Friends may call from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine.
