Imogene“ Jean” (Jackson) Flynn, 86, Koleen, Ind.

Imogene“ Jean” (Jackson) Flynn, 86, of Koleen, Ind., passed away Saturday, August 16th, 2025, at Legacy Living in Jasper, Indiana, surrounded by family and friends.

Born on June 17, 1939, in Greene County, Ind., to Ale Jackson and Hazel L. (Gillham) Jackson Fuller.

Imogene, also known as Jean to many of her friends and family, grew up knowing William “Lester” Flynn, and they later married on Sept. 2, 1960. They were married for over 60 years until his passing on Jan. 21, 2021.

Jean worked at RCA in Bloomington until her daughter, Teresa, came along, at which time she focused on family as a homemaker. Soon thereafter, her son, Scott, arrived. Once both Teresa and Scott were in elementary school, Jean went to work as a cook at Eastern Greene School, known for her work ethic, smile and extra helpings. Later, Jean went into retail sales for many years, selling shoes, clothing and furniture in downtown Bloomfield until she retired. Jean was a life-long member of the Koleen Union Church, accepting Christ as her Savior at a young age. She served the church as secretary and was an active member of the Ladies’ Aide. She enjoyed taking care of Lester, her children and everyone she met. She was known to keep a spotless hom,e and her cooking and baking, especially her chocolate and coconut cream pies.

Surviving relatives include her children, Teresa (Greg) Lehman and William Scott (Ruth Ann) Flynn. Three grandchildren, Michelle (Kyle) Stallings, Tristan (Bryanna) Flynn and Shayden Flynn. Additionally, one great-grandson, Branch Paul Flynn, and a soon-to-be arriving great-granddaughter, Everett Jean Flynn.

Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, Benny Ray Jackson and Jackie Lee Jackson, her sister Mary L. Jenkins, brother Richard D. Jackson, nephew Richard A. Jackson and her husband Lester Flynn.

We wish to thank the caring staff at Legacy Living Jasper who ministered to Imogene, particularly since Lester’s passing. The one-on-one interactions and community aspect, along with many activities, have been a blessing for Imogene and other residents. We also extend our gratitude to the Heart to Heart Hospice team, who were a wealth of information and counsel in Imogene’s last days, ensuring great peace and comfort.
