I-64 closed for flooding

Ferdinand — Indiana State Police closed Interstate 64 between mile markers 68 and 67 for floodwaters that crept over the westbound lanes Friday morning.

The closure diverted traffic at exit 79 and exit 63 near Ferdinand, sending it onto Highway 64. Some flooding occurred on Highway 64 around Kyana but receded quickly.
State police reported two vehicles were completely submerged in the rising waters along I-64 but no injuries were reported.
The interstate reopened at about 9 a.m.
Waters rose quickly with nearly 5 inches of rain falling on the area according to the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network — a site set up for volunteers who report on rain amounts.
