Huntingburg native earns Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Marian University
McKenzie Young-Eckert, daughter of Bryan and Jackie Young of Huntingburg and wife of Ross Eckert, graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree on May 3, 2026.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Biology, summa cum laude, from the University of Evansville in 2022.
During her medical training, Dr. Eckert received the Indiana Primary Care Scholarship for four consecutive years and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society. She served as a student tutor and was selected as an AHEC Scholar, gaining experience in community-based healthcare with a focus on rural and underserved populations. Her research contributions include a published anatomical study in Folia Morphologica and multiple presentations at regional and national conferences.
She has been actively involved in volunteer service, including work with Heart and Soul Clinic and Opening Minds through Art, supporting underserved individuals and those living with dementia.
A native of Huntingburg, Indiana, she is a 2018 graduate of Southridge High School.
Dr. Eckert will begin her Family Medicine residency at Community South in Indianapolis in June, 2026.
Her professional interests include primary care, geriatrics, addiction medicine, and care for underserved communities.
