Huntingburg woman arrested after single-vehicle crash
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department arrested Maria J. McKnight, 31, of E. 9th Street, Huntingburg, for operating while intoxicated after she crashed Tuesday evening.
According to authorities, McKnight was southbound on County Road 600E north of County Road 700S at about 8:13 p.m. when the accident occurred. McKnight was going around a curve when she was distracted and the Chevy truck she was driving went off the north side of the road. The truck went through a ditch and up an embankment before stopping.
McKnight was treated at the scene but refused to be taken to the hospital for injuries to her face. However, deputies suspected she was intoxicated and transported her to the Memorial Hospital for a blood draw.
The blood draw indicated McKnight had a .10 percent blood alcohol content and also tested positive for THC.
Officers charged her with operating while intoxicated and booked her into the Dubois County Security Center.
St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Department, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services and a Bergs Garage wrecker responded to the scene.
The Chevrolet had about $1,500 in damages, according to police.
