Huntingburg police make child solicitation arrest

Huntingburg Police, along with other local law enforcement agencies, arrested a Dubois resident after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Huntingburg Police Department detectives affiliated with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force opened the investigation after receiving the tip pertaining to child solicitation on October 21, 2025.

The Cyber Tip was generated by Instagram and included information about an adult male communicating with a minor female under the age of 16. During the investigation, it was determined that Christopher Wilson, 51, of Dubois, was the user of the Instagram account that was soliciting an underage female. Additional evidence of child solicitation and vicarious sexual gratification was also discovered through a search warrant and subpoena to electronic and internet service providers.

During the afternoon of December 1st, 2025, a search warrant was executed in Jasper and Dubois. Detectives from the Huntingburg Police Department were assisted by investigators with the Jasper Police Department, Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, Ferdinand Police Department, and the Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office. During the search, numerous electronic devices were seized and will be searched by the Knox County High Tech Crime Unit for additional evidence of child solicitation and vicarious sexual gratification. Christopher was taken to the Huntingburg Police Department and interviewed.

As a result of the investigation, on December 1st, 2025, Christopher Wilson was taken into custody and booked into the Dubois County Security Center on the following charges:

• 1 Count of Vicarious Sexual Gratification (Level 4 Felony)

• 1 Count of Child Solicitation (Level 5 Felony)

This investigation was led by Huntingburg Detectives, affiliated members of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The Indiana ICAC is a multiagency task force led by the Indiana State Police that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to sexually exploit or entice children. Each year, Indiana ICAC investigators evaluate thousands of tips, investigate hundreds of cases, and rescue dozens of children from ongoing sexual abuse.

The Indiana ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to the Nation Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The Huntingburg Police Department emphasizes that the filing of the information is merely an allegation, and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
