Huntingburg police conducting death investigation

The Huntingburg Police Department is investigating the death of an adult female and a juvenile.

At approximately 3:37 pm, officers were dispatched to the address of 107 N. Geiger Street in Huntingburg after a 911 call reported an unresponsive person in the home with blood around them. Deaconess Memorial Emergency Medical Services and Huntingburg Fire Department were also dispatched.

Huntingburg Police Department and Dubois County Deputies arrived on the scene and entered the residence, where the officers located an adult female and a juvenile child inside, both unresponsive.  Life-saving measures were performed, and the juvenile was rushed to Deaconess Memorial Hospital.

Unfortunately, the adult female was pronounced deceased after numerous attempts at life-saving measures, police said. The juvenile also was pronounced deceased at the hospital after numerous attempts at life-saving measures.

Police suspect the cause of death of one of the subjects was a dog attack.

All dog(s) that were in the residence have been removed.

Indiana State Police Crime Scene Technicians were also called to process the scene. This is still an ongoing and active investigation.

Police do not expect any foul play or have any concerns about public safety.

Our condolences are with the family and friends of this very tragic event, said Huntingburg Police Chief Brad Kramer in a press release Monday evening.
