Huntingburg man killed in Tell City shooting

Perry County — Indiana State Police are investigating the shooting death of a Huntingburg man that occurred early Sunday morning in Tell City.

According to state police, officers from the Indiana State Police, Tell City Police, and Perry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for assistance at a residence on State Road 145 in Tell City in reference to a dispute with a possible weapon at 1:41 CDT.

Upon arrival, officers found a male subject, Andrew Long Jr., 32, of Huntingburg, in the driveway of the residence located between Attic Road and Saint Joseph Cemetery Road. He had been fatally wounded from a gunshot, police said.

No arrest or charges have been filed at this time and the Indiana State Police is still investigating the events that transpired. Notifications have been made to the Long family.

There is no current threat to public safety.

ISP detectives were assisted at the scene by the Tell City Police Department, Perry County Sheriff’s Office, Perry County EMS, and the Perry County Coroner.
