Huntingburg man arrested on sexual battery charge

Jasper — A Huntingburg man was arrested for allegedly touching a mentally challenged 17-year-old female in a sexual manner without her consent.

According to police, Robert D. Blanford, 25, of 302 E. 1st St., was arrested on a Level 6 felony count of sexual battery and a Class B misdemeanor count of battery stemming from an incident that occurred on July 4th.

Police say Blanford inappropriately touched the 17-year-old victim at her residence in Jasper. Officer arrested Blanford today and he allegedly confessed to police that he had touched the victim in an inappropriate sexual manner without her consent.

Police booked Blanford into the Dubois County Security Center.

The Dubois County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.
