Huntingburg man arrested for huffing and theft at Riverwalk
Jasper — Jasper police arrested 25-year-old Joshua Mattingly, of N. Washington St., Huntingburg, after witnesses reported seeing him huffing at a shelter house on the Jasper Riverwalk Wednesday.
Police responded to the 4:56 p.m. call and located Mattingly at the Huck’s Convenience Store on 3rd Ave. The witness reported Mattingly had walked across the bridge in that direction.
When they made contact with Mattingly, officers determined that hey had several items in his possession that did not belong to him. Those items included a purse, credit cards, flashlight and GPS device.
According to police, Mattingly admitted to taking credit cards and a purse from a vehicle. Those items were returned to the victim.
Authorities charged Mattingly with theft, inhaling a toxic vapor and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. He was taken to Memorial Hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
