Huntingburg intersection closed for crash involving injuries

A driver suffered injuries to her leg after failing to stop in time to avoid colliding with a truck on U.S. 231 in Huntingburg Monday morning.

Huntingburg police were called to a crash involving injuries at the 14th and Main Street/U.S. 231 intersection at about 7:30 a.m.

According to police, they determined Carriss Tutt of Grandview was driving northbound on Main Street/U.S. 231 in a 2006 Chrysler 300 when she rear-ended a 2006 Isuzu box truck driven by Crystal Hempf of Troy. Hempf had stopped for the automatic traffic signal at the intersection of 14th and Main Street.

Tutt was transported to Memorial Hospital for injuries to her right leg, police said.

She was cited for following too close.

The Chrysler had about $8,000 in damages, and the Isuzu had about $1,000, according to police.

The intersection was closed for about 45 minutes.
