Huntingburg home struck by truck
A Ford pickup truck being used to jumpstart a mower jumped into gear and hit a house in Huntingburg Monday evening.
According to Huntingburg police, they responded to the call for a 1983 Ford pickup striking a home on West 19th Street at about 6:58 p.m. The people in the home at the time were not injured in the incident.
Police located the owner, Roy Nicholson, who told them he was jumpstarting a mower and when he closed the hood of the idling truck, it jumped into reverse. The truck lurched backward and struck a mailbox before continuing across 19th Street into the home.
Police estimated the damages, mostly exterior, to the home were between $10,000 and $22,000.
