Huntingburg Fire Department to host third annual Community Family Day

The Huntingburg Fire Department will hold its third annual Community Family Day this Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Station 1, located at 501 E 1st Street. This year’s event will feature a special guest appearance by the Huntingburg Police Department.
The free, family-friendly event promises fun for all ages, with a variety of activities and educational stations planned throughout the afternoon. Attendees will have the opportunity to get hands-on with firefighting equipment and learn how the tools are used to serve and protect the community.
Highlights of the event include hands-only CPR training, where participants can test their skills against the department’s reigning CPR Champion, “Lucas the Life Saver.” Families can also visit a Story & Craft Station featuring the Fire Chief’s favorite books, a Bicycle Safety Station offering summer safety tips and gear checks, and a Car Seat Safety Check staffed by certified technicians.
Free hot dogs will be provided to all attendees, courtesy of the department. The Fire Department Auxiliary will also be selling their popular pork chop dinners — though organizers warn they sell out quickly.
The Huntingburg Fire Department encourages all community members to stop by, connect with local first responders, and enjoy a fun afternoon together.
