“We were at the FDIC (Fire Department Instructor Conference & Exhibition) in Indy and saw the booth for Hansen,” Kissling said. “and they had a 30 day trial on the gas leak detection equipment. We decided to bring it back and try it out and during that time Hansen announced the contest.”
David Kissling, Glen’s nephew, put together the video with a couple other fire fighters and over-nighted it to the company last Monday. They found out yesterday their video had been chosen as one of the winners. The fire department will now receive the $2500 detector and calibration equipment for free.
According to Chief Kissling the detector will be useful in situations that occur after hours. “When someone smells gas or has a carbon monoxide alarm go off at 2 or 3 in the morning, instead of waiting for the gas department to show up to determine if there is a lead, we can do it immediately with this device.”
