The Huntingburg Common Council appointed John Reutepohler as the new Energy Superintendent over the Gas and Electric Departments.

Reutepohler has worked for the city since 1996 and has served as the electric crew chief since 2007.

He said he looks forward to taking over as the new superintendent and one of the current linemen will move into his previous position as crew chief.

Reutepohler is a 1977 Southridge graduate and has lived in Huntingburg his entire life.

Reutepohler will also replace Mayor Denny Spinner as the appointment to the Indiana Municipal Power Agency board.

Tony Traylor was also appointed as the new Water  Superintendent.

Traylor was the Utilities Superintendent but due to the responsibilities required for the three departments, the city decided to create two new superintendent positions.

The Energy Superintendent will oversee the Electric and Gas Departments and the Water Superintendent will be over the Water Department.

Both superintendents will start their new positions on Jan. 26.
