Huntingburg Common Council meeting October 25

Notes from the Huntingburg Common Council meeting Thursday night.

The Council approved the 2013 budget in the amount of $7,364,768.00 and a tax rate of $1.2378 per $100 of assessed value.

O. W. Krohn Associates representative Otto “Buzz” Krohn gave the Council an update on the state of the utilities in Huntingburg. According to Krohn the municipal utilities are in excellent shape financially.

Tim Beck, an Indiana Conservation Officer who teaches archery throughout Indiana and assisted in drafting Jasper’s ordinance, spoke to the council about safety concerns.  City Attorney Phil Schneider had a preliminary draft of an ordinance that would allow archery in the city limits. The council appeared to be against the ordinance but, after hearing from Beck, stated they would like to continue to investigate the ordinance and the potential for a city funded archery range.

The city heard from Deron Hawkins of Energy Systems Group, a Vectren company based in Warrick County that works with companies and businesses to convert their fleet of vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas as a fuel source over gas or diesel. Story here
