Huntingburg Common Council meeting notes July 10, 2014
Huntingburg Common Council held the first meeting for July on Thursday and took the following actions.
Mayor Denny Spinner addressed concerns about low flying crop dusters brought to the council at the June 26 meeting. A resident, Fred Allen, addressed the council about low-flying planes and helicopters over his residence on Chestnut while they spray the fields.
According to Travis McQueen, Huntingburg Airport Manager, the city cannot pass any ordinance that is more restrictive than the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) regulations regarding air space. He explained that crop dusting commonly creates calls to the airport, but the city and airport do not have the jurisdiction to make any changes in the crop dusting activity.
McQueen refers these callers to the proper channels for complaints through the FAA.
