Captain Bill Moesner was honored Thursday by the Huntingburg Board of Public Works as he retires after 46 years of service in the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Mayor Denny Spinner was joined by Moesner and Huntingburg Fire Chief Scott Patberg in reading a proclamation in honor of Moesner’s service.

Moesner, 75, said serving the department has been a big part of his life. “I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”

The board also took the following actions.

-Approved a bid for $60,558 from Hunter Paving and Construction of Huntingburg for paving work to be completed along Tenth Street.

-Approved the Haunted Huntingburg Zombie 5K Fun Run scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Runners will start at the Huntingburg Old Town Hall, 309 N. Geiger Street.

-Approved the Outdoor Movie Night associated with Haunted Huntingburg. It is scheduled to occur on Fourth Street and portions of the street between Main and Geiger will be closed from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday.

-Approved the purchase of a Dodge Charger from John Jones Automotive Group in Corydon to be outfitted as a police car for the Huntingburg Police Department. The vehicle will be delivered at the first of the year for the department to receive a reduced price.

-Decided to seek quotes for the demolition of a property declared unsafe at 116 N. Jackson Street. The city purchased the property for $100 from the county.
