Huntingburg attracts Inside Indiana Business to shoot on location

film-crewProducers of Inside Indiana Business were so enamored with all the activities happening in Huntingburg they decided to record a full show about the Dubois County city.

Gerry Dick and crew set up a mobile studio in League Stadium’s left field blooper territory to conduct interviews of community members and leaders Monday. The statewide broadcast only goes on location three to four times a year and Huntingburg and Dubois County has never been the site for the show.

gerry-dick-studioInside Indiana Business appears on 15 different stations throughout the state and the weekly half hour (in some markets it is an hour long) show covers several business topics across the state. The show had been airing for 16 years. This recording will feature Huntingburg for the full length of the show when it broadcasts sometime between July 11 through 15.

“This has been a great opportunity for us to spread the word about Huntingburg and Dubois County on a statewide basis,” Mayor Denny Spinner said. “Gerry’s show is probably the premier business source for around central Indiana for sure, as well as around the state. It may open doors to markets we don’t even know of.”

Mayor Spinner explained that after being introduced to Gerry Dick, they pitched him the idea to do a segment on Huntingburg. “He said this is more than a segment, this is a whole show,” Spinner said.

Dick had not been to League Stadium before the filming occurred. “I think it is awesome,” he said about the stadium. “It’s such an asset and how it is being leveraged by the community.”

After shooting in League Stadium, the crew went around town taking video of the area to compliment the interviews.

“What’s really striking to me is the amount of engagement from the business community,” Dick said about the local efforts to continually improve the community. “Just the fact that the community is looking to move forward rather than sitting back and wondering what to do. It is important to tell this story to the rest of the state. All communities face challenges and seeing what Huntingburg is doing can maybe inspire them to take action or call down here for guidance.”
