Hubert “Huby” Goepferich Jr., 90

Hubert “Huby” Goepferich, Jr. 90, of St. Meinrad, formerly of Ferdinand passed away at his home. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 10:42 a.m.

Hubert was born December 5, 1924 in Dale, to Hubert Sr. and Lena (Stallman) Goepferich. He married Romilda Petry on June 24, 1947, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Hubert was a WWII Army veteran and served in the 8th Cavalry Regiment. He was in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He was a member of Dale American Legion. He was a lifelong construction worker and was foreman at several construction companies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to local auctions.  

Hubert is survived by his wife Romilda Goepferich; three daughters, Elaine Begle and husband Richard of Dale, Susan Vaal and husband John of St. Meinrad and Janet Mullen and husband Hilbert of Ferdinand; one son, Hubert Goepferich III and wife Charlene of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna May Gogel of Huntingburg.

Services and visitation will be held Sunday, August 16, 2015, from 2 to 6 p.m. EST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Reverend Bob Dooley will officiate.
