Hub 19 receives Indiana Uplands Employer Innovation Award

Present to accept the award on behalf of Hub 19 were Max Verkamp of Indiana Furniture, John Schroeder of Jasper Engines & Transmissions, Hank Menke of OFS, and Brian Uebelhor and Dana Kunz of Hub 19.

Regional recognition honors Hub 19’s collaborative approach to connecting education, industry and students across Dubois County.

Jasper — Hub 19, a Dubois County organization that links schools and employers, received the Employer Innovation Award from Regional Opportunity Initiatives (ROI) on Oct. 2. ROI presented the award at its Annual Report to the Region at French Lick Resort, where the group marked 10 years of work in the Indiana Uplands region.

The award recognizes Hub 19’s work connecting education and industry in Dubois County, according to the organization.

“This recognition belongs to an entire community of people who believe preparing our young people for their futures is shared work,” said Dana Kunz, Hub 19’s Director of Workforce Readiness. “Our employers are investing their time, talent and resources. Our educators are creating opportunities for students to connect classroom learning to the world of work. And our community partners continue to step forward and ask, ‘How can we help?’ That collaboration is what makes Hub 19 work.”

Hub 19 brings together Dubois County schools, employers, postsecondary partners and community organizations around a shared mission: to build sustainable partnerships between education and industry to create clear career pathways. Through countywide career exploration events, work-based learning, employer engagement, employability skill development and industry-focused programming, Hub 19 creates opportunities for students to better understand local careers while helping employers connect with the next generation of talent.

Hub 19’s vision is simple: Every student has a clear path to a meaningful career, and every employer has access to skilled talent. Hub 19 extends its appreciation to Regional Opportunity Initiatives for the recognition and congratulates ROI on 10 years of work strengthening the Indiana Uplands region.
