Hopf, Sickbert named Southwest Dubois Schools Teachers of the Year
The Southwest Dubois County School Corporation announced the recipients of the corporation’s second annual Teacher of the Year awards, recognizing outstanding educators at both the elementary and secondary levels.

Nicole Hopf of Southridge High School was named Secondary Teacher of the Year. Hopf is known for stepping up wherever she’s needed—serving on leadership teams, taking on a department leadership role, and even adding a new course, Geometry and Construction, to better meet her students’ needs. She also helped lead efforts to boost SAT scores by offering extra morning prep sessions. Beyond the classroom, Hopf is a mentor to fellow teachers and a strong advocate for inclusive learning.
“Her consistency, passion, and commitment to our school community make her an invaluable asset,” Southridge High School Principal Greg Gogel shared.

Lindsey Sickbert of Holland Elementary School has been named Elementary Teacher of the Year. She was recognized for using student data to guide her teaching and ensure every child gets the support they need to succeed. Sickbert is also deeply involved in her school community, serving on multiple leadership teams, mentoring other teachers, and supporting school events. She is known for showing up each day with a positive attitude and a strong commitment to her students.
Holland Elementary Principal Jake Moyes stated, “Mrs. Sickbert is a master of her craft and a true professional. She is a leader and our building and our students are blessed to learn from her teaching.”
Together, these educators represent the passion, hard work, and care that define Southwest Dubois schools. With the generous support of Freedom Bank, the Teacher of the Year program, now in its second year, celebrates the difference great teachers make in the lives of every student, every day.
